Troop 233 enjoyed a wet and cool visit to the Shenandoah National Park for our fall backpacking trip. Typically, our backpacking trips are divided into two teams. One is our “Regular” hike which goes along the Appalachian Trial, ideal for our younger scouts. The other is our “Advanced” hike for more experienced scouts who are looking something more challenging. For both the teams, the hike went smoothly and the scouts were able to enjoy some beautiful sights.
This year, however, we were not able to escape the rain, which started in the afternoon and continued off and on until early morning. Camping conditions were not ideal, but we were able to learn some valuable lessons about camping in challenging weather. Throughout it all, our scouts kept their spirits high and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
